Combined services at 11.00am are planned for:

2nd October (Harvest),
6th November (visit of President of MCI),
18th December (Nativity),
Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
There will be children’s ministry (incl. Ark, Kids’ Faith and Discussion Group) from 4th September.

Encounter will resume at 7pm on first Sunday of each month from 2nd October.

Dundrum Methodist Church is inviting applications to fulfil the part-time role of Children and Family Worker.
We believe that family is a crucial aspect of church and community life. We are therefore
seeking to employ a passionate and experienced children and family worker.

Some of us visited the Anchorage Project in Ringsend recently.

The Anchorage Project is a Hope-Themed Christian Project that operates from the Old Mission Hall in Ringsend. A community Playschool as well as a community Café (known as The Fair Play Café) and Garden all operate as part of the Anchorage Project.

In a world where there often seems to be a tangible erosion of Hope, the project is passionately committed to developing Hope-Shaped initiatives locally and globally with four components of Beauty, Children, Community and Justice.

You can read more about the Project on their web site here.

There is an interesting RTE Nationwide clip about the Cafe and the Project on YouTube here

The background to the Project is described in an Article about the Ringsend Mission Hall opened in 1896.

We can recomment the Café from personal experience and the Project is community-based with a world view.

We have received the following email from Laura Kerr, Adminstrator, World Development & Relief, Methodist Church in Ireland:

Over £150,000 (€177,000) has been donated to the Methodist Church in Ireland’s Ukraine Emergency Appeal.

It is important that those who have donated know how their support is being used.

With that in mind, I am emailing to ask if you would please share this short video with your churches.
This could be shared during your Sunday service and/or on your church social media channels. It is only 2 minutes long.

Click here to download the video.

Please also remember to point your churches to our Ukraine page for updates from our partners responding on the ground: www.irishmethodist.org/ukraine
These updates help us to pray specifically for the ongoing humanitarian response.

Thank you for your help,

Laura

Our Irish Methodist family has been shocked to see the violent invasion of Ukraine and the heart-breaking plight of its people. Many in our congregation will wish to respond in some way.
We can do this through Irish Methodist World Relief and Development.
PRAYER
A Prayer for Peace was read last week. You can view it here.
GIVING
We have been advised by those responding on the ground, that financial support is currently the priority (not material things, although partners will inform us should this change).
This will enable our sister churches to respond to refugee needs. They have already begun this.
Some funds can also be channelled to meet needs within Ukraine itself.
This financial support will be sent through our sister churches in the region.
WDR encourages Irish congregations to receive donations during the month of March and send all monies to WDR by the end of the month.
This is an emergency. Please do not delay in sending donations.
As time goes on, we can see what support is needed and where it is needed in the longer term.
Open this link to see how you can make a donation by bank transfer, or use this JustGiving link for the Ukraine Emergency Appeal.
NB – all donations, no matter how they are sent, must reference your church and UKRAINE.
